Description
Background - NSW maintains individual property accountability for assets in an AIT supported and UID enabled Oracle database program called the Special Warfare Automated Logistics Information System (SWALIS). This program interfaces with US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) allowancing database, the USSOCOM Table of Equipment Distribution and Allowance (USTEDA) and the USSOCOM Special Operating Forces Total Asset Visibility (SOFTAV) for asset visibility, program management, and operational readiness analysis. This requires update of small inventory numbers on a routine basis (often daily) and larger populations (depending on SOCOM acquisition process/fielding plan) as items are received/expended in both the SWALIS and DPAS inventories from the SOCOM Joint Property Book Office (JPBO), Wide Are Work Flow (WAWF), or other inventory or property receipt/expenditure databases. SWALIS has the DPAS required data elements identified in its database. SWALIS is not a CFO compliant program. SWALIS interfaces and provides UID compliance for labeling and identification to the DOD UID registry. SWALIS can be configured to track DOD Serial Item Management (SIM) requirements as individually required.
Problem - Currently, NSW personnel have to perform multiple data entries to get inventory updated into SWALIS and DPAS. DFAS does not currently accept automated data feeds from the NSW SWALIS program. DPAS and SWALIS databases must match to ensure accurate accountability and reporting.
Recommended
Mission Critical
USSOCOM mandated requirement for asset visibility/reporting/accountability IAW USSOCOM Directive 700-2 dtd 29 July 2008. Critical information used to analyze asset acquisitions and fielding plans are drawn from the NSW SWALIS/USTEDA/SOFTAV databases by USSOCOM PEOs. Data needs to be pulled fm DPAS to ensure accuracy between the 2 databases (SWALIS/DPAS).
Benefits
-Reduces input errors and database mistakes, improves accuracy/accountability for asset visibility and reporting, reduces man hours.
Users
All users, a system interface as proposed would eliminate manual duplicate data entry requirements and erroneous entries. This also supports mission critical information flow, readiness analysis, procurement planning, and inventory accuracy to USSOCOM.
