    Change Request:
    Process Improvement

    Description:
PM Soldier Medical Devices supports 400 LINs with a catalog of over 17,000 NSNs and is constantly creating and modifying SKOs to support its mission. Several additional catalog data elements PM SMD uses to make business decisions are currently not present in ELMS. Without the additional catalog fields, PM SMD will not be able to create accurate procurement documents that represent the correct SKO subset.

PM SMD SKOs may be made up of hundreds of set lines, some SKOs reaching 1,200 components. Purchasers will use these additional data points to create a subset of items necessary for assembly based off of shelf life, equipment classification etc. If these data points are not available PM SMD will not be able to create a procurement list suitable for purchasing.

The only alternative source for these catalog attributes will be WebFLIS or AESIP Web. If working with a SKO containing 500 components, users will have to manually search each component NSN in WebFLIS/AESIP to determine relevant attributes required to create purchasing lists

    Recommended:
Modify ELMS Stock Number process to import AESIP fields, MUAG, UA Code, TIC Code, Army Data, Storage/Handling Notes, ASIOE
    1. New medical attributes should also be displayed in SKO, Inventory, Receiving, Requisition and MRO processes.
    2. ELMS should have the ability to automatically load any and all medical NSNs, to include newly established NSNs from FLIS.
    3. Allow search by ACC for purposes of finding non-procurable components

    Mission Critical:
Proposed modifications will significantly reduce man-hours by eliminating need for manually searching catalog attributes in WebFLIS and AESIP Web. Without the additional catalog fields, PM SMD will not be able to create accurate procurement lists that represent the correct SKO subset. Without accurate purchasing documents, PM SMD will not be able to quickly and efficiently deliver medical capabilities to the Army

    Benefits:
This solution provides visibility for critical catalog attributes required for purchasing, warehousing and fielding. Solution will provide total cost savings by reducing  man hours, swivel chair-ing and manual out of system lookups. With the proposed additional fields, PM SMD will be able to accurately create SKO purchase lists, correctly segregate material, accurately inventory kit components and accurately complete joint inventory with gaining units.

    Frequency:
    Daily

    Users:
This solution would benefit all 100 PM SMD users operating on ELMS.
